Do I need a water softener at home for this to work?

No — the cartridge is the softener. It handles up to very hard water (about 15 grains per gallon). If you already have a home softener, the cartridge simply lasts longer.

What's actually in the Ionstream cartridge?

A drool pre-screen, coconut-shell activated carbon, and food-grade ion-exchange resin. No salt is added to the water.

How often does the cartridge need changing?

Every 4 weeks on typical US water (sooner in very hard water); the membership box arrives the week before. Fountain-only buyers can pick up 3-packs.

How do I cancel the membership?

Which size do I need?

How long does the wireless battery last?

10–14 days on a charge with the motion sensor on. The plug-in model runs continuously and has a chew-guard cord.

How loud is it?

Under 30 dB at full flow — quieter than a refrigerator.

What if my dog won't use it?

Give it 3 days on low flow next to the old bowl. If they still won't, send it back within 100 days for a full refund. We pay return shipping.

Can I use tap water?

Yes — that's what it's for. Don't use distilled water; the resin has nothing to do and dogs prefer some minerals.

Is it dishwasher safe?

Bowl, tray and pre-screen: top rack. Pump: rinse under the tap. Cartridge: never wash, just replace.
